Shift work can have a negative impact on more than just your social
life. Did you know that shift workers are 4 to 5 times more likely to
develop a stomach disorder and suffer 6 to 8 times more ulcers? Other
effects of shift work and non-traditional hours of work are: 2 times
the rate of heart attacks, premature aging, greater risk of rheumatoid
arthritis, increased drug and alcohol abuse rates, higher number of
cases of spouse abuse, increased divorce rate, increased risk of having
emotionally disturbed children, more reported mood swings, cases of
depression, sexual and psychological problems, and peripheral
hallucinations. Read this article to find out how you can protect
yourself.
